Cornami Raises over $26 Million Series B Funding
Led by Impact Ventures Includes Institutional, Strategic and Insider Participation
Santa Clara, CA. April 10, 2020 – Cornami announces that it has raised US$ 26.4 million Series B funding. This is led by Impact Ventures and includes institutional, strategic and insider participation.
Cornami is a high-performance intelligent computing company that has developed a unique, breakthrough, reconfigurable computational fabric that allows processor cores to be treated as scalable resources in the same way as memory, storage, and transistors are handled today. This unique software-defined technology delivers unprecedented scalability from thousands of cores on a single chip to millions across a system, all individually programmable.
The Cornami technology reduces the use of power sources and lowers latency, while vastly increasing the compute performance for today’s massive data sets whether at the edge or the cloud including most notably, enabling machine learning computing on encrypted data bases for advanced security.
The funds have allowed for the company to scale its engineering team in both software and hardware, adding support for early customers in multiple markets including robotics, autonomous vehicles, video sensors at the edge and working with large cloud customers for machine learning computing on encrypted data sets. Computing on encrypted databases delivers advanced cloud security by never exposing sensitive or confidential information.
“Cornami is totally unique in their approach to addressing today’s data-driven computing
requirements”, said Jack Crawford, co-founder and general partner of Impact Venture Capital. “They have
assembled an impressive technical team with experienced leadership. Gordon “Gordie” Campbell, co-
founder and chairman of Cornami has repeatedly taken early stage concepts from start-up to high
volume revenue and profits. We are believers and are excited to be a part of this journey.”
“We are delighted that Impact Venture Capital sees the tremendous value of our new ground-up software-defined architecture,” said Gordie Campbell. “Jack has been a valuable lead investor and Board member, and the team at Impact Venture Capital have been extremely supportive. Our team developed a unique multicore programming model in software first, which we promptly integrated into a computational fabric that can dynamically be configured to fit the shape of the algorithm under software control. It can scale as deep and as wide as required to deliver the most optimized and efficient processing in terms of performance, power and latency. Although we have been operating in stealth, our published Resnet 5o numbers are unprecedented in terms of performance at low power demonstrating the efficiency of this approach. We can truly configure and scale to meet the requirements in a number of data driven markets.”
Cornami looks forward to disclosing more detail of its innovative technology and leading edge products in the coming months.
